You are loved

Thank you all so much for your kind words today, both here and in emails or on twitter, it definitely brought on the tears, but it was so great to hear from you all. I also got this lovely spool in the mail from Shanna Murray today (along with a super sweet vase that I'll show you soon), and the timing was just perfect. It's something we all need to hear now and then, you know?

It's been a good year.

Today was our one year anniversary. On one hand, time seems to have flown by, while on the other it almost seems hard to remember a time before Richard and I were together. We exchanged cards and gifts this evening over cupcakes, and to our surprise we had both written almost identical messages! Both started with some kind of variation on the classic 'Can you believe its been a year?' sentiment, and then went on to say how we had never been more content or happy in our lives.

I consider myself truly lucky to be able to spend each day with my best friend, that I am in an equal, respectful, loving, creative and fun relationship.

I love him.

Love.

We aren't huge Valentine-sy people, and while I completely agree that it has become over commercialised and that I don't need a specific day to show Richard I love him, it is still nice to be nice.

I like to think of it more as a day where we remind ourselves of all the people and things that we love to do, and to celebrate that. Not just romantic love, and definitely not Hallmark and roses with babies breath (oh, babies breath how did you turn so tacky) kinda love. But just love. For our partners, for our children, for our friends, for our planet.

I also like to think of it as a day where I sit on the couch with my love, popcorn & treats. He brought me some Rockets Love Hearts home from work, which I have a secret love for.

Speaking of secret loves, the wee quote on the card is a line from an oh-so-guilty-pleasure of ours, that I will now share with you all.
