Summertime

Oh, the livin' is easy. I have recently learnt of the term 'summertiming', coined by the lovely Lucy of Berkley Illustration fame. The definition: a helpful word to summarize all the picnics and barbecues and mini-golf adventures you've been going on. It really is such a perfect word to describe the past few days we've been having here in Vancouver. The weather has been fantastic, lots of sun and blue skies, with a bit of wind to make it not too humid and sticky. I do actually have this week off, but even when I don't the weather just makes me feel holiday-ish. We've been eating on the balcony, visiting the farmers market, going for neighbourhood strolls and drinking wildberry lemonade. Here are a few peeks into our summertiming expeditions...

From the top....cottage roses, the houses of W. 6th hiding in the industrial area, wildberry lemonade and sweet bannock for Canada Day, spicy black bean burgers on the balcony, sweetpeas and farmers market bounty, wisteria, hand rolled tortillas (that I'm getting quite good at if I do say so myself!) and fresh salsa, me taking a break under the wisteria (and looking naked at first, until I realised that black part was my left shoulder).

I hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are!

You know you're killing us in the Southern Hemisphere, right? Sweet peas! Argh! I have the fire on and the best plant I can see is silver beet.

Hahaha, the silver beet. That made laugh right out loud my friend. Your fire secretly sounds nice to me though, but maybe thats because its still the morning and our apartment hasn't turned into an oven yet...

Hi Becka! Thanks for your lovely comment. You bet me to it, I was going to let you know about the award but I had to give up the computer yesterday (we only have one in our house) before I got a chance to get to everyone! I love reading your blog and seeing what creative thing you are up to. Take care, Evie x

I found Fun Home to be a fantastic book -- are you enjoying it?

Kate - yes! I think so...I thought it was Spanish, since we had it in Spain. But I think you're right. I love it!

Chelsea - I've actually finished it, but had forgotten (read - been too lazy) to update that part of my blog. I LOVED it though, it was really good. How is your summer reading going?

Your photos look like they could have been taken in Portland! We have the same flowers blooming and the house looks like it could be down the street from me. I love it! :)

It was lovely to meet you too, Amy!

Anja, I haven't made it down to Portland yet but I really, really want to! Richard and I are hoping to come down next month, fingers crossed. I'm excited that our cities are twins though, ha.
